KANCO is a local leading national membership network organization in Kenya, with membership drawn from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Faith based Organization (FBOs), PLHIV support organizations, learning institutions, public and private sectors. This unique structure of membership gives KANCO a good understanding of CBO needs, citizen concerns and engagement with government. The strong network also enhances the implementation of advocacy programs and Campaigns, and it’s a platform for sustainability of the interventions in the long term.

Since inception, in 1990, KANCO has been a champion for high-quality institutional strengthening for CSOs, maximizing their ability to contribute to improvements in the health and well-being of communities. KANCO uses its capacity strengthening tools, honed from working with more than 1,200 member NGOs, to strengthen LIP and county technical and managerial capacity. Some of the partners KANCO has engaged with in current and previous programming, includes the USAID, EU, ACTION, PATH projects, as well as Global Fund TB, HIV and malaria projects in multiple counties and Countries, and GAVI immunization programming in Kenya. Furthermore, KANCO is currently implementing projects under COMIC RELIEF and FIND/UNITAID for Early Childhood development and COVID-19 advocacy respectively.
KANCO has a secretariat based in Nairobi and six offices Mombasa, Makueni, Kajiado, Nakuru, Nyeri and Kakamega. The office provides the required infrastructure for KANCO to manage and coordinate the implementation of advocacy actions, campaigns and strategic partnerships at various levels.
KANCO has implemented Advocacy related grants in Kenya for over three decades and also within the Eastern African region under Global Fund as a Primary recipient for Harm Reduction project, working in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Seychelles, Ethiopia, Burundi and Mauritius.
KANCO has also been a Primary recipient, a secondary recipient and has also supported in sub granting of local organizations and CBOs for Advocacy, Health system strengthening and community systems strengthening interventions.
The KANCO’s consortium members have implemented various projects that provide the necessary technical capacity to actualize/meet the expected outcomes in advocacy and campaigns, providing the platform for future CSOs, CBOs engagement, advocacy and campaigns. KANCO also build the campaigns and advocacy capacity of its CSO members through workshop, trainings and quarterly networking meetings.
